Going Full Liberal
In the past few weeks, demonstrators — mobs, really — have destroyed or defaced the following statues across the United States. Or, unelected bodies have decided to remove them with no input from the public.
Cities are allowing mobs to pull down, vandalize, and destroy statues depicting all manner of historic figures. Yes, cities are allowing this. They could stop it if they choose to. No one in the mainstream media is asking any of them a simple question: Why?
TV networks have canceled two shows that show police officers in action, COPS and Live PD.
HBO removed, and will restore with disclaimers, the iconic film Gone With The Wind. That film earned Hattie McDaniel the first-ever Oscar won by a black woman. Like most of history, the film is too complex to be summed up in a tweet.
Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben’s Rice, and the Land O Lakes butter maiden have all been removed, despite the fact that the families connected to Aunt Jemima and Land O Lakes do not see them as racist at all.
A young Venezuelan woman says she has seen all of this before and is warning Americans where it leads. Her name is Elizabeth Rogliani.
She points to several steps Venezuela went through on its way from being one of the most prosperous countries in the Americas to a socialist police state and economic disaster:
- Statues came down because socialist dictator Hugo Chavez wanted the history erased.
- He changed street names for the same reason.
- He changed the educational curriculum to erase history and substitute his version.
- Some movies were banned, presumably for the same reason.
“You guys think it can’t happen to you, I’ve heard this so many times,” Rogliani says. “But always be on guard. Never believe something can’t happen to you. You need to guard your country and your society or it will be destroyed.”
She also notes that Cuban exiles tried to warn Venezuelans that they were seeing similar patterns and events they had suffered, but Venezuelans brushed them off saying they knew what freedom is and they would never surrender it.
Investors are making the biggest bet in the futures market since 2011 that the stock market is going to sell off.
There’s been a net short position in E-mini S&P 500 futures building since April.
Some strategists believe when a lot of investors take the same position, there’s a herd mentality at work and investors are actually sending a contrarian signal. In this case, that would be positive for stock market gains. But Peter Boockvar, chief investment strategist at Bleakley Advisory Group, disagrees that stock futures investors are necessarily representing a contrarian call.
According to the CFTC, as of last week, there was a net short position of 303,000 futures contracts for the S&P E-minis held by the noncommercial traders, an investment group viewed as speculators. In early March, the same investors held a net positive position, at a high of about 55,000 contracts.
Boockvar said about twice as many futures contracts were now short as long, for the week ended last Tuesday. He points to cases where the shorts were right, like in September 2007 when they were at a record high ahead of the market peak in October.
The Trump Update
President Donald Trump visited the Southern border in San Luis, Arizona, on Tuesday, celebrating the construction of 200 miles of wall in his first term.
After taking a tour of the wall, the president signed a plaque memorializing the 200-mile mark in the building process.
Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ), Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), and Gov. Doug Ducey attended the tour with the president, as well as several border and law enforcement officials.
The majority of the construction features replacement wall over existing inferior fencing.
“It’s really foolproof,” Trump commented after the tour. “Its solid steel, it’s rebar and concrete inside the steel.”
History was made on May 30, when NASA astronauts on a SpaceX Crew Dragon successfully launched from American soil for the first time since 2011. The launch also marked the first time that astronauts were sent into space on a private spaceship.
However, alien enthusiasts say there was another landmark in the launch, with some claiming to spot a UFO monitoring the Crew Dragon.
A bright light can be seen zooming diagonally from the bottom left corner to top right in the footage from SpaceX.
Prominent conspiracy theorist Scott C Waring stated this is “100 percent” evidence of extraterrestrial existence, and the aliens are trying to watch history being made.
Mr. Waring wrote on his blog ET Database: “This is a great capture of a UFO flying past the Dragon SpaceX capsule while it was about to dock at the space station.
“This UFO passed in front of the SpaceX capsule, so we know its small, like an alien drone monitoring history being made.
“It’s strange that neither NASA or SpaceX mentions what this strange glowing object is since it came within a few meters of the capsule carrying two astronauts.
“You would think anything that close would be seen as a possible threat to the lives of the astronauts, but nothing was said.
“100 percent proof that alien life exists out there.”
